Reawakening

1 June 2020   Simon Fitzgibbon

I had to check. It’s now been 10 weeks since we closed our doors due to the new reality that Covid 19 had imposed on us. I can vaguely remember wondering if we were over reacting, only to have absolutely no doubt a day or so later. The crisis escalated so quickly.

When we closed down, we did so as a precaution. Our profession necessarily requires close contact and touch with our students. Recklessness was not an option. We thought we’d wait a month or so, see how things developed, then reassess. A week later we would’ve had to close down if we hadn’t already due to government regulations.

It turns out we had to wait a little longer. Now, as of June the 1st, we are allowed to reopen but it will be a return to the special measures we’d implemented back in early March (perhaps the new normal), not a return to the pre-covid 19 world. We will be taking an extra week to clarify all of the protocols and to make sure all those coming to the school are aware of and in agreement with them.

We’re looking forward to getting back to work!
